The present research is conceived as a study of effective use of integrated library software (ILS) in engineering college libraries of Karnataka. For this paper we have selected engineering college libraries of Bangalore region to explore the satisfaction level of software users, and to find out their problems and suggestions. This study carries detailed enquiry into the experiences undergone by the engineering college libraries in use of ILS. It gives a status view of the software packages used by different libraries and opinions of the librarians about the performance of the software they have used and also opinions of users regarding computer based services provided by these college libraries. The list of engineering colleges can be seen in annexure. The data collected were analyzed qualitatively, and conclusions were drawn along with recommendations. The research is limited to automated libraries of Bangalore region and focuses on the comparison of software and determining the opinion of librarians.
