The study on the Kodavas is a small study, equally distributed between urban and rural areas, which has social relevance because it contributes towards better understanding of a community changing through Westernization and Indianization from classic Kodavas to pannational Indian. After Independence, in 1947, no in-depth, comprehensive audio-visual study has been done on the changing face of traditional Kodava clothing. This work will be a thorough audio-visual record of the community sixty seven years after Independence. As an outsider, bais will be kept to a minimum.
