Abstract

1-Benzenesulfonyl-4-benzhydryl-piperazine was synthesized from 1-benzhydryl piperazine with benzenesulfonyl chloride. The title compound, C23H24N2O2S, was synthesized and the structure was investigated by X-ray crystallography. The compound crystallizes in the monoclinic crystal class in the space group P21/c with cell parameters a = 13.2390(10) Å, b = 9.1960(7) Å, c = 18.5810(16) Å, β = 110.873(3)°, and Z = 4. The piperazine ring in the structure is in a chair conformation. The geometry around the S atom is distorted tetrahedral. The structure exhibits an intermolecular hydrogen bond of the type C‒H · O.
