Intelligence is one of the most highly debated topic. In psychology there is no standard definition of intelligence. Over the last 100 years some psychologists have suggested that intelligence is a single, general ability, others believe that it encompasses a wide variety of aptitudes, skills and talents. In the middle some psychologists even confirmed that, the intelligence quotient can be measured through psychometric techniques. As the controversy over how reliable the IQ tests are, how well these pen and paper measurements of IQ can be extrapolated to success in everyday life. Slowly evolution towards the development of more than one kind of intelligence i.e. the concept of Multiple Intelligences began. The view on human intelligence has broadened during the past 30 years. Various researchers from various fields from cognitive psychology to neurobiology have contributed to the theories that give explanation on the evolving perspectives of intelligence. In our paper we have attempted to portray the emerging perspectives of intelligences along with an account on the past in brief.
