Abstract

The aim of this study is to analyze the relevant literature in the field of Knowledge Management (KM) with the primary objective of uncovering fundamental KM trends to build a map for future direction. In this regard, the "International Journal of Knowledge Management" has been selected and the articles published during the period 2005-2012 (8 volumes) were analyzed. 4/5kb of the papers are collaborative. The findings suggest that very little collaboration exists between the institutions and corporate sectors in the field of research. USA contributes the highest number of papers (45.20%). Conceptual/ descriptive methods dominate KM research. Organizations as a unit of analysis with KM strategies were found to be the most widely published topics within KM domain. Further, a number of literature gaps were explored that need the attention of researchers in the context of KM research.
