Abstract

The present study is a bibliometrics analysis of literature on digital libraries from 1991 to 2009 as available in the emerald database. 27 LIS journals were perused to collect the data related to digital libraries. 454 articles were finally considered in the study. Data was analysed with respect to authorship pattern, yearly distribution, geographic distribution, and frequency and type of articles in journals. 67.62% of articles are single-authored ones which indicates that collaborative research is yet to pickup in digital libraries. Researchers in USA and UK are working in the area 'digital libraries' more than their counter parts in other countries. 'The Electronic Library' and Library Hi Tech News' are the most preferred journals to report the findings of the studies related to digital libraries. The beginning of the current century witnessed a slow growth in number of articles in the area. During 2005 and 2006 more number of articles in the area was published.
