Abstract

Web sites have become a major source of information. Political discourses on the web have been rising is unprecedented way. US 2009 election was an example of how web technologies can be used in political discourses. Though there are number of studies on web and political discourse in developed countries. There was no substantial information of how web technologies were using in third world countries for political engagement. This study examines the effectiveness of the Websites of Indian political parties. The study resulted in that Indian political party websites have a long way to go. At this point they have just remained as "information brochure" of the respective national parties.
