Abstract

In the title compound, C\sb 14H\sb 11ClOS, the \it trans conformation of the C=C double bond in the central enone group is confirmed by the C—-C=C—-C torsion angle of 178.3(4)\circ. The mol\-ecule is non-planar as seen by the dihedral angle of 22.6(2)\circ between the chloro\-thio\-phene and the \it p-toluene rings. In the crystal, mol\-ecules are linked by pairs of C—-H⋅sπ inter\-actions, forming inversion dimers. There are no other significant inter\-molecular inter\-actions present.
