Silver nanoparticles are important in nanotechnology, which are synthesised from many bacteria and fungi. In present report biosynthesis of silver nanoparticles using Aspergillus fischeri is described. Nanoparticles formation was visually observed over time. It was evident by UV-Vis spectrum, showing the absorbance in the range of 360 to 460 nm. The extracellular nanoparticles produced by A. fischeri were characterized by X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and Nano Tracking Analysis (NTA). XRD confirmed the presence of crystalline silver nanoparticles in the sample. FTIR revealed prominent peaks corresponding to amides I and II and amines, indicating the presence of extracellular proteins for stabilizing the nanoparticles. TEM showed the specific size and shape of the nanoparticles of an average size 10-50 nm, which was further confirmed by nano tracking analysis. A. fischeri was found to be quite competent for the purpose of commercial silver nanoparticle production, since it is synthesized extracellularly as well as rapidly. This work also presents a scientific support for the high antioxidant activity of the silver nanoparticles produced by A. fischeri mediated process and consequently it may discover potential applications in the treatment of the diseases caused by free radical.
