Abstract

Information literacy is a set of abilities requiring individuals to recognize when information is needed and have the ability to locate, evaluate and use effectively the needed information. In the paper the authors tried to find out the post graduate students ability to identify required information for their study and for day to day purpose. The paper highlights the ways and means the students search the information from different information sources. Further, the study finds the documents used by the post graduate students to get information relating to government and related areas. The paper focuses on what are the resources used to get familiar with the subject(s). Finally, it concludes by giving some fruitful suggestions to improve the information literacy programmes for post graduate students in the university level.
