The synthesis of a new tetracyclic condensed quinoline system is reported by a novel method. The method involves beta-enamino carbonyl compound as starting material to get 13-aminothieno2, 3-b]quinolin-2yl]-3-aryl-2-propen-1-one, which in tum is cyclised to desired compound by an intramolecular Michael addition of the amino group to the alpha,beta-unsaturated moiety.
