Abstract
World media are either liberal or conservative struggling to modelthemselves on western philosophy of liberalism. Under thecircumstances, the world events and media are judged from theperspective of ‘free press’ and accordingly dimensions and indicatorshave been evoled to judge the degree of freedom excercised by thepress of any nation and rank them globally. Press is ranked on thebasis of poltical rights and civil liberties enjoyed by the citizes indemocracies and totalitarian countries. The two prominent agenciesinternationally involved in indexing media to measure its performanceon a annual basis are Freedom House and Reporters Without Borders.The 2015 Report that provides numeral ratings to the global press revealsthat press freedom around the world has declined. This paperendeavours to study the ratings Indian press received in postliberalization in terms of political, legal and economic dimenstions.
