Abstract

The association and influence of quantitative and qualitative parameters on total tuber yield, correlation and path analysis of co-efficients were studied in three different maturity groups of potato viz., early maturing, medium maturing and processing genotypes during the year 2007 and 2008 at ARS, Madenur, Hassan. Observations were recorded on growth parameters; quality and yield parameters. It was found that selection of promising early maturing genotypes shall be based on the characters such as LAI (leaf area index) (0.401 and 0.108), number of shoots (0.241 and 0.029) and leaves (0.106 and -0.050), tuber dry mater (%) (-0.083 and 0.080), marketable tuber yield per plant (0.971 and -0.313) and per plot (0.993 and 1.271), whereas, the medium maturing genotypes are to be chosen based on the characters, such as number of leaves (0.384 and 0.687), LAI (0.743 and -3.43), plant height (0.647 and -0.410), marketable tuber yield per plant (0.791 and 0.664) and per plot (0.987 and -6.662) and number of tubers (0.21 and 2.434).
