Abstract
Chloramine-B was preparedf by passing pure chlorine through benzenesulphonamide dissolved in sodium hydroxide solution(4M) over a period of 1 hr at 70. The solid obtained Was filtered, dried and recrystallized from water. The purity of the compound was checked by estimating the amount of active chlorine present in the compound", An aqueous solution of CAB was prepared and standardized by the iodometric method. Leucine(Diamalt, West Germany), ur.-valine (BDH), nr.-phenylalanine(BDH), DL-alanine (Loba-Chemic, Austria) and L-(+)-glutamic acid (Centron Research. Laboratories) were recrystallized from aqueous medium and their purity checked by the acetous perchloric acid methods. Reduced glutathione(Sigma Chemicals. USA) was used. Analysis by Mason's method? showed
