Silver doped (1-5 wt%) zinc oxide designer nanoparticles were synthesized through solvothermal technique at 150 degrees C with an autogeneous pressure, and an experimental duration of 16 h using methanol as a solvent. In situ surface modification was carried out using gluconic acid, in order to obtain desired size, shape, and surface characteristics. The influence of silver concentration in the raw material has been investigated with respect to phase homogeneity, size, morphology, antimicrobial activities.
