Abstract

Oxidation or glutamic acid by bromamine-B is rapid and stoichiometric in buffers or pH I to 6. The reaction involves a fourelectron process. Aback-titration procedure for the determination or glutamic acid in an acetate buffer (pH 4) medium has been developed. The method has been extended for the estimation or glutamic acid in its trivalent rare earth complexes. The effect or other species on the oxidation has been investigated. Direct titration procedures for the determination or methionine and glutathione in the presence of glutamic acid have also been proposed.
