Abstract

Chlorosulphonation of 3-(2-bromoacetyl)-2H-chromen-2-ones at 0°C results in the formation of non sulphur containing (Z)-3-(2-bromo-1-chlorovinyl) -2H-chromen-2-ones IVa-f. Configuration of the vinyl dihalides has been established by X-ray diffraction.
