Abstract

This article is a study of job opportunities for library and information professionals on online job portals. The Careerage.com online job portal has been considered for the study. The job posted in the field of library and information science in Careerage.com in the month of May 2006 forms the major data source. Careerage.com predominantly targeted Indian job seekers that is reflected in this study also with 92.1% jobs advertised in the portal belongs to Indian companies/educational institutions. Schools, especially international, residential schools and technical institutes have posted almost 69% of the jobs in the careerage.com job portal.
