Abstract

Kinetics of oxidation of aminoalcohols, viz., 3-dimethylamino-1-propanol (DMAP) and 2-dimethylaminoethanol (DMAE) by bromamine-T (BAT) is reported using ruthenium(III)chloride catalyst in hydrochloric acid medium at 303 K (308 K for DMAE). The oxidation behaviour is similar for both the amino alcohols and obeys the rate law,
