Abstract

The title compound, 4-n-nonylbenzoic acid, CH3(CH2)(8)C6H4COOH (NBA), has been characterized thus: triclinic, P1, a = 13.514(4) Angstrom, b = 23.4672(5) Angstrom, c = 7.658(3) Angstrom, alpha = 90.914(3)degrees, beta = 100.403(3)degrees, gamma = 77.781(2)degrees, V = 2334(2) Angstrom(3), Z = 2, and F.W= 745.06, D-m = 1.161 g cm(-3), D-c = 1.061 g cm(-3), F-000 = 816.00, lambda = 0.71069 Angstrom, mu = 0.6 cm(-1), goodness-of-fit is 1.029, final R1 = 0.063 and wR2 = 0. 16.
