Abstract
The title compound [ systematic name: 1-methyl-4-{3-[2-(trifluoromethyl)-10H-phenothiazin-10-yl] propyl} piperazine-1,4- diium bis(2,4,6-trinitrophenolate)], C(21)H(26)F(3)N(2)S(+.)2C(6)H(2)-N3O7- , belongs to a group of phenothiazine derivatives which exhibit tranquillizing activity. The dihedral angle between the two outer aromatic rings of the phenothiazine unit is 24.69 (7)degrees. The crystal packing is stabilized by N - (HO)-O-... hydrogen bonds and several weak C - (HO)-O-... contacts. The molecular conformation of the trifluoperazinium cation differs significantly from that in the hydrochloride.
