Abstract

The title compound (3-carboxy-piperidinium chloride), Csb 6Hsb 12Nsb 2sp +⋅Clsp, is the hydro-chloride of nipecotic acid and is used as a drug inter-mediate and in the synthesis of γ-amino-butyric acid (GABA) uptake inhibitors. The geometric parameters are in the normal ranges. The crystal packing is stabilized by O-H⋅sCl and N-H⋅sCl hydrogen bonds.
