Abstract

The title compound (Pr2(C3H2O4)3·6H2O) was investigated by X-ray studies. It crystallises in the monoclinic space group C2/c with cell parameters a=17.260(7)Å, b=12.423(5)Å, c=11.238(4)Å, Z=4 and V=1911.58(13)Å3. The compound forms a layer-type polymeric structure. The layers are formed by praseodymium and one independent malonate group, giving a three-dimensional framework structure. It is stabilized by intermolecular hydrogen bonds. The thermal dehydration of the compound was investigated by TGA measurements.
