Abstract

An ion–aerosol model for the electrical conductivity of the lower atmosphere is developed. Ion-pair production rate, obtained from the concentrations of radon and its progeny; aerosol number density; and the meteorological parameters such as temperature, pressure and relative humidity are the input parameters to the model. Diurnal values of conductivity computed on this model are compared with the experimentally measured conductivity. The model values show good agreement with the experimental values of total conductivity.
