Abstract

CsNiP crystals were synthesized by hydrothermal technique and characterized by the X-ray diffraction method. This alkaline transition metal phosphide crystallizes in the hexagonal system with space group P6(3)/mmc and cell parameters, a = 7.173(2) Angstrom, c = 5944(9) Angstrom, V = 26487(7) Angstrom(3) and Z = 2. The final residual factor is R1 = 00362 for 206 reflections with I > 2sigma(1).
