Abstract

Rural Development is the overarching goal of our development philosophy. Since 69 per cent of total population is in rural areas, development of rural areas is our top priority. We are adopting different strategies to achieve the rural development. However we have to go a long way to accomplish the same. In recent years many theoretical and empirical studies have revealed that ICT can bridge the gap and accelerate rural development. In this paper an attempt has been made to examine its role and impact on rural development in a regional setting.
