Abstract
In the title compound, C\sb 16H\sb 14O, the asymmetric unit consists of three crystallographically independent mol\-ecules. The anthracene units are essentially planar, with maximum deviations of 0.165(1), 0.153(1) and 0.045(1)Å in the three mol\-ecules. In the crystal structure, mol\-ecules are linked \it via inter\-molecular C—-H⋅sO hydrogen bonds. Further stabilization is provided by C—-H⋅sπ inter\-actions.
