The study was undertaken the women empowerment through SHGs in Hunsur taluk. It is found that the income of the members has been increased after joining to SHGs. Micro credit has been playing it major role in poverty alleviation. In recent years it has been recognized as the engine of enhancing the socio economic empowerment of the people. The members are taking more loans for productive purposes that are business activities like embroidery, cattle rearing, agarbathi making, candle making and many more where they are getting training for so many activities from the government, non government organizations. The number of women inclined towards SHGs is increasing which implies that women are aspiring for equality, self confidence and self-respect. These SHGs has been an instrument in empowering women in Hunsur taluk. In this way SHGs in Hunsur taluk is running successful and empowerment is also taking place among the members.
