Abstract

Internet has become a synonym for information. Availability of information on the Internet and its ease of access has revolutionalised the information seeking and fetching pattern. Today, it is difficult ot find an individual or an organization/institution who does not use Internet either for communication or for information seeking. It has become an hotline for any transaction to be taken place among individuals, organizations, etc., The growth of internet has also paved ways to many issues regarding the associated softwares and their Intellectual Property Rights implications. This paper dicusses issues that are concerned with open source resources, their IPR implications and the role of open source resources to an academic insititution in developing country like India.
