Abstract

A series of thiophene appended pyrazoline carbothioamides were synthesized by simple and accessible approach. The reaction of chalcones 1-7 and thiosemicarbazine 8 in the presence potassium hydroxide in ethanol yielded 5-(4- aryl)-3-(thiophen-2-yl)-4,5-dihydro-1H-pyrazole-1-carbothioamides 9-15 in good yield. The synthesized new cyclocondensed products were characterized by 1H NMR, 13C NMR, Mass spectral studies and elemental analysis and were screened for their antimicrobial susceptibility against different bacterium and fungi species.
