Abstract

In the present investigation an attempt as been made to assessthe air pollution effects on micromorphological and biochemicalparameters of Santalum album and Ficus religiosa. In pollutedsite samples the number of stomata were found to be higherthan control site sample, where as the number of cloggedstomata are found to be higher in the polluted site than controlsite. Stomatal size in length, breadth and subsidiary cells were found to be very less in polluted site samples when compare to control site sample, where as the stomatal index were found to be highest in polluted site sample in both plant species. Theamount of chl.a, chlb, total chlorophyll, relative water content,ascorbic acid and air pollution tolerance index were found to behigher in control site samples when compare to polluted sitesamples.
