Abstract
One of two sorghum lines that are highly resistant to Peronosclerospora sorghi as whole plants was susceptible to this fungus as a callus culture, but regained its resistance when plantlets were regenerated from callus; the other line remained resistant throughout. So, contrary to previous reports, callus cultures seem unreliable for screening the resistance of sorghum cultivars to downy mildew.
