Abstract

Recent developments in Science and Technology communication haveled to the growth in the socio-economic status of the individuals inIndia. Still, the rural areas of the country continue to lag behind intechnology development. In this state of affairs, it becomes essential touse the mass media effectively not only to communicate science andtechnology messages of relevance but also to motivate rural peopleespecially rural women to participate in the process of developmentalactivities linked with science and technology. Many people in ruralareas have no regular access to information through mass media dueto poor socio-economic status and illiteracy; This study analyses therole and the effectiveness of media in creating awareness and knowledgeof science and technology among rural women for development.
