Abstract

Examines the changes in the environment of libraries. Attempts to identify the factors ― intrinsic and extrinsic ― responsible for these changes. Considers «Documents», «information» and «Tools and techniques» under intrinsic factors whereas «Users», «Cost» and «Technology» under extrinsic factors. Describes the changing dimensions of each of these factors. Points out and discusses some of the educational requirements expected of an individual coming out of the LIS schools in order to cope with these changing dimensions of libraries
