Abstract

The effects of infection by a cytoplasmic polyhedrosis virus on the haemolymph proteins in two races of the silkworm Bombyx mori were studied. In the diseased larvae, the quantity of protein gradually decreased as the disease progressed. The electrophoretic analysis also revealed variations in the number as well as intensity of protein bands. Such changes in the infected larvae, depicting the possible defence cellular adjustment of the host in response to pathogen attack.
