Abstract
CHLORAMINE-T(CAT) has been widely used as a mild oxidant for estimating a variety of compo-~ nds. Ad~ ition C? fCAT solution to aqueous solutlO~ lSC? fsilver nitrate produces a white turbidity which IS presumably the silver salt of N-chloro-4-methyl benzene sulphonamide(RNCIAg, where R= p-CH3C6H4S02). In the present investigations attempts have been made to use RNCIAg in lieu of CAT as an oxidimetric reagent in the estimation of some inorganic and organic compounds. It may be noted thatan organic haloamine containing aheavy metal ion IS being employed for the first time as an oxidimetric titrant.
