Abstract

The objective of the study is to examine the impact of workplace values related to business ethics, operational efficiency and customer orientation as a contributory factor to organizational values in public and private banks in India. The sample size of respondents is 400 being the employees of leading public and private sector banks in India. Validity and reliability test are conducted using the Bartlett test, KMO tests exploratory factor analysis. The study uses Principal Component Analysis for extraction Varimax with Kaiser Normalization under rotation method. A model is developed to establish the association existing between organisation values, business ethics, operational efficiency and customer orientation. It is clear from model that workplace values related to operational efficiency, customer orientation and business ethics significantly contributes to the organizational values. The major contributor is workplace values related to operational efficiency with a factor loading of 0.8830 followed by workplace values related to customer orientation with a factor loading of 0.8730. Workplace values related to business ethics contributes the organization values with a factor loading of 0.8690.The implication of the outcome to the banking industry is that, it has no choice but to nurture and groom these workplace values.
